Soul Urge Number Calculator
Your Soul Urge number — also called your Heart's Desire number — comes from the vowels in your name and reveals what you truly want underneath everything else. Enter your full birth name to find yours.
What is a Soul Urge number?
In numerology, your Soul Urge number is drawn from the vowels in your full birth name (A, E, I, O and U). While your Life Path describes the journey and your Expression number describes your talents, the Soul Urge speaks to your inner world: the quiet motivation behind your choices, and what would make you feel deeply fulfilled. It's why two people with the same job can want completely different things from it.
How to calculate your Soul Urge number
Give every vowel in your full name its numerology value, add them all up, then reduce to a single digit — keeping the master numbers 11, 22 and 33.
- List the vowels in your full birth name.
- Swap each for its value: A = 1, E = 5, I = 9, O = 6, U = 3 (and Y when it acts as a vowel).
- Add them up and reduce to one digit, unless you land on 11, 22 or 33.
The calculator does all of this for you above.

Is the Soul Urge number the same as the Heart's Desire number?
Yes. Soul Urge and Heart's Desire are two names for the same number, both calculated from the vowels in your name.
Should I use my full name or my nickname?
Traditionally you use the full name on your birth certificate, because that's considered your original vibration. You can also try your current name to compare.
Is Y a vowel in numerology?
Y is treated as a vowel when it makes a vowel sound and there's no other vowel in the syllable (as in "Lynn"). It's one of numerology's judgement calls.
